BHUTAN NOW ART PRIZE

The Bhutan Now Art Prize is a cash prize awarded to an outstanding local Bhutanese photographer who shows technical excellence and creativity in a piece of work that supports the theme 'Bhutan Now: An individual interpretation of a modern Bhutan'.

Founded by Australian photojournalist Sarah Keayes, the inaugural Bhutan Now Art Prize was exhibited in Thimphu, Bhutan in September 2014. First place was awarded to amateur photographer, Khim Tshering for his long exposure image of traffic in the main street of Thimphu.

The aim of the art prize is to encourage enthusiast photographers to pick up their camera and tell a story. Photography is a powerful tool of communication, and through discussion and participation, it can become a recognised and legitimate art form in Bhutan.  To join the discussion, join the Bhutan Now: Photographic Pinboard facebook page, and start to make a difference to your community through photography.
